University of Ilorin (Unilorin)

University of Ilorin is also known as Unilorin. It is a federal government-owned university in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. Also, it was established by a Decree of the Federal Military Government in August, 1975. It began in 1975 as a University College. affiliated to the University of Ibadan.

The establishment aimed to implement one of the educational directives of the Third National Development Plan. And this was aimed at providing more opportunities for Nigerians aspiring to acquire university education.

Also, it is to generate high-level manpower, so vital for the rapidly expanding economy. However, compared to other higher institutions of learning in the country, the institution has one of the largest landmass covering approximately 5000 hectares of land.

UNILORIN Remedial Admission Requirements

The management of University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) invites application from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the remedial programme. Below are some of the major requirements:

1. Arts and Arts Education:

• Applicants must pass five subjects at Credit level at not more than two sittings. And this is in the SSCE/GCE organized by WAEC, NECO, NABTEB. Also, this should include the major subjects of study.
• However, note that Credit grades in English Language and Mathematics are compulsory for eventual admission into any programme at the University of Ilorin.
• Also, two of the five subjects must be from Arts. While the other subjects may be from the Social Sciences.
• Note: There is no preliminary programme in B.A. (Hons.) English

2. Agriculture, Engineering and Technology, Environmental Sciences, Science and Science Education, Technology Education and Educational Technology

• Applicants must pass the following subjects at credit level: English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at NOT more than two sittings in the SSCE/GCE organised by WAEC/NECO and NABTEB

UNILORIN Remedial Programme Duration

The programme is for duration of two semesters (one academic session).

The Programme General Conditions

• The Board of the School, in its policy thrust of inclusiveness in university education, has approved that applicants who have credit pass in five (5) O’ Level subjects but deficiency in either of English Language or Mathematics may apply for the programme.
• However, provided that they must have registered for and obtained credit pass in the subject to be considered for admission into degree programme.
• Also, candidates who want to study Engineering must obtain Credit grades in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics and sit forEnglish Language, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at JAMB/UTME.
• Additionally, candidates must write JAMB/UTMEwith relevant subject combination to any programme in either Arts or Sciences. And must obtain the minimum UTME approved cut off point by the University.
• Consideration for admission into programmes shall be based on performance and quota for each programme.
• Also, students who passed the School’s end of the programme examinations but could not obtain the minimum JAMB/UTME cutoff point approved by the university can BANK the Remedial result for use the following year only.
• However, this is provided that the minimum JAMB/UTME cutoff point approved for the following year is obtained.
• Also, applicants are to note that the programme is residential.

Venue of UNILORIN Remedial Programme

The venue of the programme shall be at the School of Preliminary Studies, Fufu, Ilorin South Local Government Headquarters, Kwara State. As such, applicants are to note that the programme is residential.

How to Check UNILORIN Remedial Admission List

Log on to your portal (https://remedial.unilorin.edu.ng/rem_login.php.). However, do this with your Remedial Application Number. Example: UIL/REM/2018/…, and your password to check your admission status.

If offered provisional admission, complete the acceptance form with a NON REFUNDABLE ACCEPTANCE FEE of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000). This DOES NOT constitutes part of the school fees.
