What is JAMB CAPS Really about?

Before going into details about JAMB CAPS’ Sensitization Workshop Registration, please note. JAMB CAPS is an abbreviation representing the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Central Admission Processing System.

The platform was created by JAMB to automate the admissions process into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. It also ensures quality control, transparency, and credibility of the admission process.

The Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) is expected to make provision for a ‘marketplace’ in the JAMB portal. It is where institutions can go and ‘request for students in Nigeria who score their cut-off points.

The system is such that institutions can only admit those who meet their cut-off points. If a candidate fails to meet the cut-off mark, that student would certainly be denied admission irrespective of the candidate’s connection.

Note:

JAMB CAPS does not only automates the process but a number of other innovations are also being introduced. And these include:

• Opportunities for candidates to confirm provisional admissions thus eliminating cases of candidates abandoning admissions;
• Market place to enable institutions to source candidates from the available pool based on various criteria such as JAMB score, State, Local Government and even gender of the candidates
• The requirement for all awaiting O/L results candidates to upload their results into the JAMB portal before being considered for admission
• Admissions can be processed in batches as well as instantaneously with candidates being able to check their admission status at any point in time on the JAMB portal.

• To access the JAMB admission status.
• To accept/reject admission offers.
• Also, to upload screening documents like the O’level certificate for review during JAMB registration.

JAMB CAPS’ Sensitization Workshop Registration

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board in the discharge of its mandate have developed the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) to automate the admission exercise starting with the 2024/2025 academic session.

As part of the Board’s efforts to familiarise the candidates with the admissions process on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), particularly their rights to fair treatment and active involvement in decisions about choice of institutions and programmes, a Sensitisation Forum has been planned with windows of participation: physical attendance at the venue, through online steaming, webinar and the phone-in segment of the Live Broadcast on the NTA Network.

The Forum will hold as follows:

• Date: Thursday, 21st September, 2017
• Location: International Conference Centre (ICC), Garki Area 11, Abuja
• Time: 10am -12noon

Prior registration and confirmation are required for:

• Physical attendance
• Webinar participation.
